What is a sworn translation?

A sworn translation is an official translation certified by a MAEC-appointed sworn translator, legally equivalent to the original for use before Spanish authorities. In English it is often called a "certified translation" — for official use in Spain the two terms mean the same thing.

The translator certifies that the translation faithfully reproduces the original, signs it, and takes full legal responsibility for its accuracy. To check who is qualified to do this, see our page on the MAEC-appointed sworn translator.

Where it's accepted

Because it is certified by a MAEC-appointed translator, a Traducet sworn translation is accepted across the Spanish administration, including:
