What is a sworn translation?
A sworn translation (tradución jurada) is an official translation that attests to the fidelity and accuracy of the original document, certified by a translator appointed by Spain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MAEC). Only MAEC-appointed translators can produce translations with legal validity for use before Spanish authorities: consulates, civil registries, universities, the DGT, immigration services, and courts.
Digital signatures: fully valid under Orden AUC/213/2025
Under Orden AUC/213/2025 (BOE, 7 March 2025), sworn translations certified with a qualified electronic signature (certificado electrónico cualificado de persona física under eIDAS Reg. (EU) 910/2014) carry exactly the same legal weight as a physical stamp. The signature must cover the entire document in PAdES format. Traducet only works with translators who hold a valid qualified e-signature certificate.
How to verify your translator
All Traducet translators are on the official MAEC list of sworn translators. You can verify any translator's appointment directly at the MAEC website using their appointment number, which appears on every translation we deliver.
